I have a service that needs information implemented by another service in the same layer. Is it good practice for one service to take a dependency on another service in the same layer?

Best way to indicate more results available
We have a service to return messages. We want to limit the number returned, either allowing the caller to specify the max number to return, or else to use an internal hard limit. We also have thought it would be nice to include in the response whether more messages are available. The “best” way to go about this is not clear.

Micro-services and data replication
I am building a new application and was reading about micro-services architecture. The architecture itself makes lot of sense from a development, deployment and life cycle management point of view. However, one issue that came up was with regards to how to handle master data.
