I’m having trouble understanding the concepts of Partial Dependence Plots (PDP), Individual Conditional Expectation (ICE), and Accumulated Local Effects (ALE). Specifically, I’m confused about what it means when a centered PDP value or a centered ALE value is negative. Why do we compare these values to the mean effect of the feature? Could someone help me interpret the following example?
