How to open a folder in VS Code on macOS

If I choose “Open File” in VS Code on macOS, but want to choose a file within a sub-folder, I naturally highlight the folder and hit return, or possibly click the [open] button.
In either case, the entire folder and all contents are opened in the editor, which is not what I want.

VS Code does not open on Mac after adding a helper tool

So, yesterday a notification appeared while I was coding about adding a helper tool related to an update. I ended up installing it, and it worked normally. Today, when I turned on the computer again, my VS Code doesn’t open; it loads and closes on its own. I have already restarted the computer, uninstalled VS Code, and downloaded it again, but nothing worked. What should I do? My version is macOS Catalina 10.15.7.

cannot open vscode on macOS after update

Vs code was running perfectly fine on my MacBook Pro mid 2012 with macOS Catalina 10.15.7 (19H2026). But then I clicked on “restart to update Jupyter extension” the app closed and did not restart. Now when I click the app icon nothing happens. The little dot below the app pops up for one second indicating the app is open and then immediately disappears.

when i clicked vscode icon on dock, it didn’t open.
i think it relates to version of Xcode, so i downloaded Xcode 16.0 beta, but it doesn’t work too.
should i downgrade os? but i don’t have any timemachine or usb.
please help me. my final exam is soon.
