Since the built in HDMI port only supports HDMI 1.4, I would like to use an eGPU (RTX 2070 super) with a Sonnet Egfx Breakaway Box 650 (using this as a HTPC and would like HDMI 2.0). The Sonnet is a Thunderbolt-3 device, so I have a Genuine Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter. I understand the bandwidth bottleneck with PCIe 3.0 x16 vs Thunderbolt 3/2.
