Very Slow initial load AG-grid

I’m using the client-side AG-grid version 32.1.0. I’m rendering a large amount of user data (give and take 5000 users) AG-grid seems to take an awful amount of time before the data is displayed in the browser. My user json file is 3.1 MB and takes about 11.9 seconds to fully load, so during that time a get the “loading” message. I’ve tried several things like, pagination, rowBuffer but nothing helps. It seems like AG-grid is loading the data all at once. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated. Below is the code snippet that loads the grid.
